The image of the DB11 table with the structural chain at the bottom and the strong thick top somehow recalls the type of traditional carpenters' workbenches. It is composed of a strong solid wood top that gently rests on a slender iron base of minimal thickness, accentuating the effect of a suspended top. The design of the plinth conceptually stems from a 12-meter-long ribbon of minimal section iron (60 x 5 millimeters) that is simply cut and drilled to form the 14 pieces that make up the structure, like origami. The different pieces are simply interlocked and screwed together without any welding. Looking at the table one can read its construction, the components following the geometry best suited to assimilate the stresses.
